Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Technician (Anatomy) to join the Anatomy Learning Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting anatomical education, research and knowledge exchange activities within a specialist teaching environment.
About the Role:
As Senior Technician (Anatomy), you will coordinate and support the day-to-day technical operations of the Anatomy Learning Centre. Working closely with the Technical Manager (Anatomy), academic colleagues and students, you will ensure that teaching spaces, equipment, anatomical resources and specialist facilities are prepared, maintained and operated to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting the delivery of anatomy teaching, research and outreach activities.
Coordinating cadaver and prosection management, including preparation, maintenance and storage.
Acting as a Person Designated under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) Anatomical Examination Licence.
Leading embalming activities and maintaining statutory records in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004.
Preparing teaching materials, equipment and learning spaces for practical sessions.
Providing technical guidance and support to students, academics and visitors.
Monitoring equipment performance, arranging maintenance and managing consumable stock levels.
Contributing to the development of risk assessments, standard operating procedures and safe working practices.
Supporting compliance with health and safety legislation and University policies.
Assisting with the continuous improvement of technical services, facilities and operational processes.
About You:
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated individual with:
Significant experience in a similar technical role, including experience of embalming and working with anatomical material.
Knowledge of anatomy or a closely related discipline.
A strong understanding of health and safety requirements within laboratory or specialist teaching environments.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
Experience of supporting, training or guiding students and colleagues.
A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to work independently when required.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification and First Aid certification are essential.
Experience within higher education, membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RSci or REng/ABTT) and associate fellowship/fellowship of the Higher Education Academy are desirable but not essential.
