Background

We are excited to be recruiting a Quality Officer (Apprenticeships and Placements) to join our recently established Quality Assurance and Enhancement team. This team consolidates academic quality assurance functions across the University, playing a vital role in ensuring effective academic governance and a rigorous, responsive quality assurance infrastructure to facilitate academic excellence. The team is pivotal in ensuring the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies, and stays current with sector best practice in quality assurance.

Role

The post holder provides specialist quality assurance support for all University procedures specifically for the quality assurance, regulatory compliance, monitoring and enhancement of apprenticeships, placement learning, and UK Partnership and Transnational Education.

The post holder will develop specialist knowledge of quality assurance of apprenticeships, placement learning and partnership provision and will work collaboratively and flexibly with the team of Quality Officers, particularly working under the direction of the Quality Manager (Apprenticeships and Placements). For two days per week, the post holder will work under the direction of the Quality Manager (Collaborative Provision). A key element of the role is ensuring work undertaken is responsive to, and takes full cognisance of, the external higher education sector requirements including the Office for Students B Conditions, professional, statutory, and regulatory body requirements and expectations, Competition and Market Authority and sector best practice such as the UK Quality Code.

Who are we looking for?

You will bring strong administrative experience to the role, ideally from within the context of Further or Higher Education, with a background in Quality and Standards in educational settings. You will have, or be expected to quickly develop, working knowledge of Higher Education academic quality and professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRB) regulations.

You will possess excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through your ability to work independently and on your own initiative as well as to work collaboratively within a team. You will be adept at prioritising work, identifying problems and formulating and implementing effective solutions. You will have the ability to synthesise information, produce comprehensive reports and make recommendations for senior colleagues. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.

Possessing excellent IT skills and a commitment to accuracy, proven attention to detail is crucial, as is discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. You will have a track record in administration, project and collaborative working within a complex organisation and have a clear understanding of the University’s external regulatory requirements in relation to Quality Assurance. In all areas, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring they align activity with external regulatory requirements (including those from OfS, DfE, CMA and relevant PSRBs) and University policy.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible, and this role is ‘Flexible and connected – Professional Services.’ Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align with the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.
