This team consolidates academic quality assurance functions from across the University, playing a central role in ensuring effective academic governance and a rigorous, responsive quality assurance infrastructure to facilitate academic excellence. The team is pivotal in ensuring the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies, and stays current with sector best practice in quality assurance.

Role

The Quality Manager (Curriculum & Standards) serves as the key quality lead for a designated area of the University’s academic portfolio. In this role, you will work alongside a team of Quality Managers and will manage all aspects of quality assurance procedures including approval, accreditation, course review, modifications and data reporting for designated areas. You will provide authoritative advice to colleagues, conduct quality checks, and serve as the quality assurance representative on relevant School meetings. Collaborating with senior colleagues in Quality Assurance and Enhancement and across the institution, you will lead on specific thematic aspects of quality assurance and enhancement. You will line manage a Quality Officer assigned to your portfolio area.

Person

You will possess excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through your ability to work independently and on your own initiative as well as to work collaboratively within a team. You will be adept at prioritising work, identifying problems and formulating and implementing effective solutions. You will have the ability to synthesise information, produce comprehensive reports and make recommendations for senior colleagues. Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.

A commitment to accuracy and proven attention to detail is crucial, as is discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. You will have a track record in staff management and collaborative working within a complex organisation and have a clear understanding of the University’s external regulatory requirements in relation to Quality Assurance.
