Cyber Security is becoming ever more important to all organisations with ever increasing threats and compliance requirements. The University is re-affirming its commitment to Cyber Security by growing the teams responsible for driving improvements.

Five new roles will be recruited within the IT Department on two year fixed term contracts which may, depending on the outcome of teaching bids, become permanent posts. These roles will allow the Platforms and Systems team, the End User Computing team and the Cyber Security team to maintain operational responsibilities whilst also improving the security and functionality of the University's IT services.

The roles will include two End User Computing Engineers who have the following skills:

Experience: Bring significant experience to the role, demonstrating a proven track record in a relevant capacity within the field.

Problem-Solving: Exhibit excellent troubleshooting skills, adept at identifying issues and presenting effective solutions to ensure seamless operations.

Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with diverse IT and University teams, articulating complex technical issues in a clear and understandable manner.

Programming: Proficiency in programming languages, including C#, VB.net, and PowerShell, contributing to the technical capabilities of the team.

Software and OS: Expertise in Windows and Mac OS development and software packaging

Incident Resolution: Play a key role in proactively managing the resolution of complex incidents escalated by IT teams, ensuring swift and effective solutions.

Effective Communication: Engage in meaningful exchanges of complex ideas with colleagues, university staff, and third parties.

Organisational: Efficient planning and execution of tasks contributing to the overall success of the team, self-motivated and organised.

Security Expertise: Demonstrate knowledge of Information Security technologies and adhere to Cyber Essentials standards, contributing to a secure and compliant IT environment.

Proactive: Identify additional security measures and protocols as needed, proactively addressing potential security risks and enhancing overall system security.
