We are recruiting for

Supported Employment Specialists

to join the bemix team

This is an integral, exciting and varied role and will offer someone a fantastic opportunity to join our uplifting, committed Supported Employment team.

We are striving to raise the aspirations of young people with learning difficulties or autism, together with their families and carers, demonstrating that work is possible and rewarding. A supported internship is about young people with a learning difficulty and/or autism achieving high-quality paid work that lasts. We call it a supported internship as we support the young person throughout the internship by providing a Supported Employment Specialist. As the young person's Supported Employment Specialist, you will work alongside them throughout their whole journey with bemix assisting them from start to finish into work.

Main aim: Manage a caseload of young people and support them through their journey into paid employment. To meet programme targets and work according to good Supported Employment practice.


Hours: Working 3 days a week (22.2 hours) or 4 days a week (29.6 hours) We can be flexible around hours and days worked as long as the business needs are met. Working hours need to have flexibility to respond to tight deadlines with extra hours.


Location: Medway and Gravesham or Canterbury and Swale, you may be requested to travel to and work from other bemix sites, within a reasonable commute from your usual place of work, to cover for colleague absence, to join meetings and/or training.

If you are …

A natural communicator with great interpersonal skills. You must be able to communicate well with different types of people and organisations and are patient when people are speaking.

confident in problem-solving and supporting people to find solutions that enables young people to achieve and succeed in their work placements.

Able to support people well, and understand that people need different types of support at different times.

Knowledgeable of the education and/or social care sectors and of working with people with a learning difficulty and/or autism.

You are confident with supporting people in the workplace, this can be through previous Supported Employment work, or through line management or training experience.
