If so, the newly created role as Data Engineer & Business Information Support could be the career opportunity you are looking for. This role is offered on a full time, ongoing basis.
The role will provide data engineering capability and support the development and delivery of business intelligence within the Planning and Data Engineering (PDE) office.
As Data Engineer & Business Information Support you will:
- design, build and maintain extract, transform and load (ETL) routines to collate and prepare data for analysis and consumption by business intelligence (BI) reports
- identify internal and external data sources that underpin further analysis and understanding of issues affecting the University and HE sector to inform strategic planning
- develop automated, accurate and timely reporting and data visualisation solutions that meet stakeholder requirements and support effective planning and strategic decision making
- provide training to a wide range of staff to enable them to consume management reports or leverage business intelligence
To be successful in this role you will have:
- good knowledge of database design, management and experience of querying databases (T-SQL)
- knowledge and experience of using QlikView or other business intelligence software
- an aptitude and enthusiasm for data analysis
- the ability to plan, organise and deliver workload whilst taking account of conflicting demands
The Planning and Data Engineering office at the University of Kent supports the institutional planning and performance process through the analysis and provision of relevant data and management information reporting, from both external and internal sources. These include sector wide data from statutory data agencies and applications and student lifecycle data from the University’s student record system. The office provides internal business intelligence solutions (delivered using QlikView) to enable evidence-based decision making in leadership teams across the institution.
The PDE team cover a wide range of specialist skills including data analysis, survey design and deployment, data engineering, and business intelligence report development. PDE works closely with other teams in areas of statutory returns, data quality and business intelligence requirements.
