Overview
A modern, friendly and professional accountancy firm is looking for their next manager! This is a strategic NEW hire, so this positions responsibilities can be framed around the skillset of the successful candidate. The firm is known for its inclusive workplace culture, training-focused outlook and continuous commitment to personal development.
This is a Monday-Friday 37.5hrs role with hybrid working.
The salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher salaries can be discussed.

Duties
Manage a small but diverse portfolio of clients, overseeing year‑end accounts, tax compliance, and ongoing advisory needs.
Review work completed by Client Managers and juniors, ensuring accuracy, compliance with UK GAAP/FRS 102, and adherence to internal quality standards.
Provide technical support to the team, acting as the first point of escalation for complex accounting or tax queries.
Oversee workflow planning, job allocation, and internal deadlines to ensure efficient delivery of client work.
Conduct regular client meetings to review performance, discuss tax planning opportunities, and provide proactive business advice.
Support directors/partners with the delivery of special projects, including forecasting, process improvements, internal reviews, and client‑specific advisory assignments.
Lead, mentor, and develop Client Managers and trainees through feedback, training, and on‑the‑job guidance.
Ensure accounting systems and processes used by clients (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) are maintained, optimised, and supported by your team.
Review and approve VAT returns, management accounts, and draft tax computations prepared by the team.
Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact and ensuring service standards remain consistently high.
Support partners with compliance matters, filing requirements, and preparation of schedules where needed.
Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, enhance client service, and contribute to practice growth.

What we're looking for
A successful candidate for this role will have circa 2yrs+ experience as a Client Manager or higher and be fully qualified in a ACA or ACCA. You must live within a 1hr commute of Eastbourne.
