An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within North Kent College’s Motor Vehicle curriculum area as a Motor Vehicle Technician.
Our Educational Motor Vehicle Workshop is a dynamic, hands-on training environment where theory meets real-world application. Designed to prepare the next generation of automotive professionals, this facility equips students with the latest tools, diagnostic technology, and industry-standard practices to master everything from traditional engine systems to cutting-edge vehicle platforms.
Our Technicians work with the Lecturers and other team members in the curriculum area to provide technical support for the delivery of the Motor Vehicle courses and actively participate in enhancing the student experience. In addition to helping shape and motivate our learners throughout their course, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing learning materials in readiness for practical sessions and in maintaining the workshops. This role would be ideal for someone looking to come off the tools but still wanting to be a part of the motor trade and helping to train the next generation.
The Role:
Where you’ll work: This role is based at our Gravesend campus
Your hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum (1 FTE)
Your pay: £24,688 per annum
The College:
North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, with ‘Outstanding’ learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent and 4,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners’ experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.
The Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary, you can expect the following as a Technician at NKC:
33 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays (including 3 days allocated to the Christmas and New Year period)
Enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which includes generous employee/employer contribution rates.
Access to free parking and a number of onsite facilities, including gyms, restaurants and coffee shops.
CPD days and access to several discount memberships through being an employee at a College.
How to Apply:
If this sounds like the next role for you, please visit the North Kent College staff vacancies page to see the full job description and apply.
Please note that the closing date for applications is Sunday 15th February 2026, with interviews scheduled to take place on Thursday 26th February 2026.
