Job Title: Shift Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
Location: East Peckham Factory

Role Purpose
The Shift Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible for performing maintenance activities to maximise the reliability, efficiency, and safety of production equipment. The role also includes active participation in continuous improvement and equipment upgrade projects to enhance performance and support customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on critical plant machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
• Support ongoing improvement and refurbishment projects, including equipment installations.
• Modify and upgrade equipment to meet evolving production demands.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations during maintenance tasks.
Primary Duties
• Conduct routine servicing and checks on essential plant assets.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to restore functionality efficiently.
• Contribute to productivity improvements through continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Rotating Shifts:
o Week 1: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
o Week 2: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Total Package: £33,632.00 per annum
• Holiday: 25 days annual leave
• Pension Scheme: Available after qualifying period
• Sick Pay: Provided after qualifying period
Workplace Environment
This role is based in the Engineering Department at the East Peckham factory. It is workshop and factory-based, involving varied tasks that require strict adherence to Health & Safety standards.

Personal Qualities
• Safety-conscious, reliable, and conscientious
• Adaptable with a flexible approach to diverse maintenance tasks
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently and under pressure
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Effective team player with sound communication skills
Skills & Experience
• Time-served mechanical engineering apprenticeship with relevant qualifications
• Broad-based engineering skills: welding (MIG/MMA), machining, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, fans, and mechanical drives
• Previous experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience in paper converting or printing environments advantageous
Additional Requirements
• Must have own transport due to limited public transport access to site
• Good general health and reliable attendance expected
• Must demonstrate long-term commitment to the role
Training & Development
Full site induction and role-specific training will be provided. Ongoing support from the Engineering Team ensures continued development and progression within the role.
