Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday, 18:00 – 06:00

Training Schedule: Please note that initial training will take place on the day shift.

Role Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Factory Operative to join our Fettling Department on the night shift. In this hands-on role, you will process castings by performing a variety of tasks including fettling, linishing, shot-blasting, etching, and band saw operation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Production:

-Process parts in accordance with Technique Cards and Works Instructions.
-Fettling of castings using compressed air-driven hand grinding tools.
-Manual handling, including moving boxes of castings around the factory.

Occasional tasks may include:

-Linishing castings with an upright linishing machine.
-Etching castings using a compressed air-driven vibro-etching tool.
-Shot blasting castings with alumina grit.
-Operating a band saw.

Data Recording

-Accurately record production data via the bespoke Aventa touch screen system.
-Complete job cards and log all work carried out.

Health and Safety

-Consistently use correct PPE.
-Maintain awareness of chemicals and follow guidelines as outlined in the department’s COSHH assessments and Material Safety Data Sheets.
-Understand and adhere to relevant Risk Assessments.

Other Responsibilities

-Maintain and clean shot blast extraction systems and cabinets when required.
-Keep the department clean and tidy in line with housekeeping standards, including 5S procedures.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a proactive individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a busy production environment. Previous experience in a manufacturing or fettling role is desirable.
