The Hundred of Hoo Academy has a fantastic opportunity to appoint a Student Services Manager to join their team in September 2024. Our successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills whilst managing a variety of tasks, will be very personable and approachable, and will have the ability to build good working relationships with our students. On a daily basis, you'll be in contact with students, various members of staff, parents and external agencies - this is a busy and fast-paced role so we'd love to hear from candidates who are keen to be part of our collaborative and supportive environment. It is essential that our successful candidate has previous pastoral experience.

A background in positive behaviour management, experience in using restorative justice practice and an understanding of external agencies and the local authority fair access panel would be desirable but not essential. We are also looking for individuals that have knowledge and understanding of working with disadvantaged pupils.

Our Student Services Manager will be able to:

Demonstrate high professional practice in all areas of work
Help progress the academy towards our vision, through a focus on raising the aspirations of students
Be an excellent role model for students, commanding respect and being a positive presence around the academy
Be efficient and effective and highly organised in all areas of work
Promote actively in the academy's pride and ethos through words and actions
This is a permanent position offering an actual salary of £23,511 - £25,613 per annum (£27,334 - £29,777 full-time equivalent), commensurate with experience, and based on 37 hours per week, Term Time + 1-week inset. Although we are recruiting for a September start, there is scope for the right candidate to start in Module 6.

Why work for us? The Hundred of Hoo (All-through) Academy is a place where we will combine good manners and etiquette with 21st Century innovation and creativity to ensure our pupils are more than just educated, they become globally-minded citizens who will be empowered to change their own lives and the lives of those around them.

At The Hundred of Hoo Academy, we have a strong belief that all students deserve a world-class education, which we strive to offer as their local community school. We want our students to leave our school as well-rounded, lifelong learners and global citizens that are ready for sixth form, college and beyond.

The Hundred of Hoo Academy is a Middle Years Programme (MYP) candidate school and we approach learning, teaching and living in the spirit of the International Baccalaureate, appreciating that academic learning is very important but not the only measure of success. We provide a curriculum that challenges students to solve problems, show creativity and resourcefulness, but also to act with integrity and participate actively in our community.

We have high expectations of our pupils, hence we are a well-disciplined academy, where pupils thrive in a culture defined by mutual respect and good behaviour. We were acknowledged with a National Area of Excellence for Behaviour & Inclusion. We believe passionately that education transforms lives, that there is no ceiling to achievement and we are extremely proud of the academic progress that our pupils make. Our results improve year on year and are a testament to the collective hard work of pupils, staff and parents.

We pride ourselves on our digital offer to our pupils and in being at the forefront of digital development within our curriculum offer. All of our pupils have access to their very own Chromebook which enables them to take ownership over their own learning and means that they are able to challenge themselves further. The Chromebooks are an integral part of our teaching and learning at the academy meaning that we are shaping the future for our children in the digital age. This also means that our staff have access to a wealth of digital training opportunities and will gain certification in Google as well as in many other digital tools.

We look forward to welcoming you as members of our academy family.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2023, our Trust comprises 31 geographically organised academies (15 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 3,000 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust, you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Our commitment to safeguarding: Leigh Academies Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process across all academies and business units which is inline with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates - you can read more about this in our Recruitment Guidance. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.

Our commitment to equality and diversity: As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals, we all bring something unique to the role regardless of any protected characteristics which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise. We are committed to providing equality and fairness throughout our recruitment and employment practices and not discriminating on any grounds.

Based on the quality and quantity of applications received, Leigh Academies Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy sooner than the specified closing date. Applicants will be notified of this where possible. Therefore, early applications are encouraged.
