The Leigh Academy is seeking to appoint a Science Technician. The successful candidate will provide technical support and assistance in the preparation, delivery and clearance of practical experiments. Our technicians play a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of our faculties. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance from Key Stage 3 to Post-16 level.
All specialisms and levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
What we are looking for in our successful Technician:
Qualification to GCSE, A Level or above within the science remit.
Experience working within a science-related role would be preferred.
Practical experience within a school environment would be an advantage.
Is reliable with good organisation and communication skills.
Is flexible and able to take on a range of tasks
The ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently
Is prepared to undergo further training if required

Duties will include providing equipment for practical lessons and clearing away afterwards. Liaising with teaching staff regarding their requirements. Maintaining equipment and ensuring materials and supplies of chemical reagents are available for use.
Candidates would be required to maintain compliance with Health and Safety Regulations at the Academy therefore a good working knowledge of COSHH or CLEAPSS would be helpful but training will be provided.
The basis of this role is permanent, Term Time + 1 week of inset, 30 hours per week with an actual salary of £17,287 per annum (£24,789 full time equivalent). Please note, for the right candidate we can be flexible with start/finish times.
