The Route One Publishing Group, based in Kent, is looking for an experienced data manager to maintain and build its global database.
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for managing the Route One Group’s data functions from sourcing and qualifying fresh data, maintaining, and updating existing data, and working with our partners to ensure data security, auditability, and full compliance with GDPR.
Reporting to the Internet, IT, and Data Services director, you will be working closely on data projects with the managers of each of our brands, so clarity of brief and good time planning is required. These projects include print, digital, and social elements, and our data is used for content sourcing, revenue generation, and content delivery across all channels.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate success in the generation of new data to a defined brief and from a variety of sources.
This position will have sign-off and supervisory responsibilities.
Key responsibilities / Essential functions:
Train support and inspire our teams to take a more data-informed approach.
Ensure the data collected meets the group's business requirements and quality standards.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse data to develop further strategies.
Work closely with contractors and outside suppliers to prepare and ensure the proper execution of data management plans.
Manage data projects from beginning to end.
Develop a long-term strategy to grow our data and increase engagement.
Communicate with all departments, including sales, regarding project status.
Provide ongoing feedback on data workflows to increase efficiency.
Ensure that the coding of our data is accurate using industry standard coding conventions.
Identify and qualify potential data list vendors, as appropriate.
Ongoing design and evaluation of a regular data reporting process
Provide oversight on quality database design, validation, and deployment.
Manage multiple and varied tasks, prioritise workloads with attention to detail.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Abilities:
Experience in creating and maintaining databases and managing contractors, and processes.
Previous experience working with data to influence business decisions.
Data analysis: deep knowledge of data analysing tools
Knowledge of all relevant data industry standards.
Excellent time management skills, plus the ability to co-ordinate a busy workload and meet established deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Problem identification and solving capabilities.
Ability to work independently and prioritise with minimal daily instruction.
