Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, as Category Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction within specific product categories. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain, to optimise the assortment, pricing, promotion, and overall performance of the assigned categories.
The role
* Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives. Identify market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to drive growth and profitability.
* Analyse market data, consumer insights, and sales trends
* Identify opportunities for new product introductions
* Define pricing strategies
* Develop and implement promotional activities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
* Negotiate favourable terms, including pricing, discounts, and promotional support. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and seek opportunities for cost savings and improved service levels.
* Collaborate with internal teams to align category strategies with overall business goals.
* Conduct ongoing market research and analysis
* Monitor category performance using relevant metrics
* Develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets for assigned categories.
* Identify opportunities for cross-category collaborations
About you
* Demonstrable purchasing experience - ideally CIPS qualified
* Strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills
* Sound negotiation skills
* Ability to gather and analyse data with strong mathematical and analytical skills
