Planning Officer

If you are serious about a career in Town Planning and have a degree (not specifically in Planning, but could be Geography, History, English etc), please read on. You will be joining a specialist firm and working on many exciting projects, supported by the Planning team, in order to develop your planning knowledge and expertise. You will be supported in report writing and research initially, alongside meeting with clients, other Consultants and LPA Officers. Training will be provided to the right person. Unfortunately, we are not looking for school leavers, rather someone who has a bit of experience or wants a change of career. This must be a serious commitment, as extensive training will be provided. There are great opportunities to rise very quickly within the company for the right person.

In a nutshell, we are looking for someone who:

* has excellent attention to detail
* good report writing skills
* enjoys researching
* is a problem solver
* is proactive, energetic and enthusiastic
* is a team player

Salary is initially £22-£25,000 per annum (depending on experience), with fast progression for a talented person who is the right fit. Benefits include 22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. This is a 40 hour working week, Monday to Friday, both in the office and site visits and subject to a three month probationary period, after which you will be eligible for pension contributions. You will also need to be driver, because of site visits.

You will be involved in a diverse range of projects, including residential developments, commercial and leisure proposals of varying scales, as well as helping to deliver these planning proposals on behalf of clients. Duties to include:

* Review of key planning policy documents and guidance;
* Navigation of LPA planning portals, planning history search, assessment of site context and physical/policy constraints;
* Undertaking of site visits & photos;
* Review of Local Planning Authority (LPA), Local Plans and their stage of production;
* Research for new enquiries and planning appraisals;
* Feedback of research to the team as part of a one-to-one or team meetings;
* Cataloguing new enquiry and projects on Google Earth;
* Preparation of fee proposals to generate new business;
* Contribution to Planning Statements;
* Attendance at various LPA meetings with a member of the team; and
* Attendance at consultation events.
