Financial Accountant | Sittingbourne – Fully Office based | £40k - £50k DOE

An expanding organisation based in the Sittingbourne area are looking to recruit and all-round accountant for a Financial Accountant position. This role is a newly created position and offers future progression to managing the transactional finance team. This role is fully office based with ad-hoc working from home available. The working hours are 9 till 5:30.

You will be responsible for internal & external reporting requirements, ensuring these are in line with the company (& group) policies and legal regulations.

Key tasks
• Review of general ledger, ensuring accurate records are maintained
• Responsible for FI period end postings. (Prepayments, accruals, and similar accounting entries).
• Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for group and external.
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure cashbook postings are up-to-date and reconciled
• Ensure month-end reconciliations are carried out
• Cash flow forecasting
• Review of accounting documents to ensure they are compliant with VAT regulations.
• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns & submissions
• Maintaining internal financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting.
• Review / approve documents created from A/P, A/R & cashbook teams
• Identifying and reporting on potential risks.
• Driving the continuous improvement of accounting practices.
• Maintaining financial details to ensure legal requirements are met.

What you will need
• Qualified or part-qualified accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Previous experience working in a financial or management accountant (or similar) role
• Diligent / accurate with an attention to detail
• Team player with ambitions to learn new skills and take on further responsibilities
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Conscientious and hard working
• Computer literate, especially Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook
