Our client who specialise in education is seeking a Database Administrator and Integration Lead, to develop, manage and support the Business Systems and databases. The successful candidate must ensure that there is a reliable and secure infrastructure that delivers integrated business-critical systems, processes, and information.

About the role

* To carry out database administration tasks associated with the systems, including delivering software and system upgrades and patches, monitoring database activity and resource usage, optimising database performance, and forecasting future resource needs
* Design, implement, test, and maintain complex technical integrations across multiple systems, including in-house, enterprise application, and cloud-hosted systems, ensuring that data is securely and reliably integrated between business applications
* To ensure that databases are protected by effective support and maintenance activities, working with IT colleagues to ensure that regular backup and recovery routines are in place, along with the formulation, development, documentation, and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans
* To design and implement new application services, liaising with 3rd parties and IT colleagues to ensure that technical and operational standards are met in compliance with the Information Security Policies and relevant UK and EU legislation

About you

* Extensive knowledge and skills in database administration of enterprise-class MS SQL Server or Oracle databases for corporate application
* Knowledge of Application Server technologies, including Java
* Business analysis, project management, and change management skills developed through working in a Prince2 environment
* Professional certification in MCDBA, OCA, OCP or MCSE
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to a range of technical & non-technical audiences
* Skilled in writing technical operational documentation
