Our Research and Innovation Team are seeking a Finance Administrator with excellent numeracy and attention to detail skills to join the team on a fixed term contract basis.

The purpose of the role is to support the financial administration of a research project entitled Blastocystis under One Health funded by the Financial and Scientific Administration & Co-ordination (FSAC) COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology). This project is a coordination of European multi-partners.

Reporting to the Research & Innovation Manager, the role holder will work closely with other divisional finance and research staff to deliver all aspects of the Division's financial requirements in line with service level agreements and University financial regulations.

As a Finance Administrator the duties will include:

Arrange travel for the project, booking flights and hotels for staff, students and visitors while ensuring compliance with the project and University’s purchasing regulations.
Supporting the divisional Finance & Resources team as required, ensuring operational efficiency and compliancy with University regulations and divisional processes.
Administering a range of transactional financial processes to ensure the project and Division's financial administration meets University regulations including expenses claims, timesheet claims, credit card reconciliation, cash advances, petty cash, hospitality cards and online store items; ensuring they are recorded and reconciled correctly.
Uploading and entering required financial documentation to the European Commission COST portal to support financial claims, in collaboration with the University Research & Innovation Finance team.
Updating the project’s official website when necessary, while ensuring compliancy with the COST regulations.
The successful applicant for this position will have:

The ability to maintain accuracy when dealing with financial data and ensuring excellent attention to detail when processing payments etc. Ability to spot discrepancies and resolve them where possible, knowing when to refer/escalate to the Finance Officer/ Research & Innovation Manager.
GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
A Foundation level financial qualification (e.g. AAT) actively studying towards full qualification, or willingness to undertake; or equivalent
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to explain financial processes to non-financial staff.
