Mission Aviation Fellowship UK (MAF) is a Christian organisation that, for over 75 years, have been flying light aircraft over remote locations around the world. Our efforts have enabled more than 2,000 aid, development and mission organisations to provide emergency relief, long-term development and Christian hope to remote communities.

We utilise the power of aviation and technology to reach isolated people in need around the globe as we believe nothing should stop people from receiving the essentials of life no matter how remote they are.

By helping to link communities isolated from today’s ‘connected world’, we are ensuring that the severity of medical emergencies, natural disasters, conflict and famine are reduced and the light of God now shines brightly there.

We are now seeking a Young Person’s Engagement Officer to join our team on a full-time basis, working at least 36 hours per week.

- Annual leave entitlement of 22 days’ per year plus 8 paid public holidays per year
- Close-down from Christmas Eve to New Year with non-public-holidays as additional leave

The Role

As a Young Person’s Engagement Officer, you will oversee the development and delivery of the 16- to 26-year-old element of our UK Youth strategy.

Raising awareness of the work we do, you will organise and deliver in-person and online presentations. You will set up and develop a bank of volunteers, offering training and support to them in their roles both in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

You will engage with educational establishments to deliver awareness sessions, explore partnerships and liaise with Youth Group Leaders, Pastors and other young adult Christian networks to showcase our work.

Additionally, you will:

- Help develop age-appropriate resources
- Support the Scottish and wider UK Teams at Christian festivals and events
- Prepare content for our Youth magazine, social media channels and website
- Support the organisation of the online MAF Youth panel

About You

To be considered as a Young Person’s Engagement Officer, you will need:

- Experience of public speaking to both adults and young people
- Experience of working with people aged 11-26 years
- Experience working in an educational environment
- Experience of co-ordinating volunteers
- Experience of planning and running events, trips, or socials
- A strong passion for working with young people
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Social media literacy
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- A-levels or an equivalent qualification
- A full, valid driving licence

Training or a qualification in youth work and/or teaching qualification would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of working within a charity/fundraising environment and volunteer recruitment and training.

This role will involve regular travel within Scotland and regular travel to our UK Head office
in Folkstone and other parts of the UK. It will also involve some evening and weekend work
and may include overnight stays.

Some tasks will involve heavy lifting and towing of mobile resources such as large trailers, but training will be provided.

The closing date for this role is 24th January 2023.
