Job Purpose

Responsible for the handling of claims emanating from the Marine and Transportation division

Responsibilities

* Oversee and manage the operation of claims for the division in London, actively helping to maximise new business opportunities and achieve a high retention rate on existing accounts through expert knowledge and support.

* Provide technical support to team and colleagues as and when necessary, in particular, assume responsibility for management of marine and transportation claims in London, dealing with all technical and claimant issues.

* Maintain a professional attitude towards the team, being seen to support the decisions of the management team at all times.

* Liaise fully with Account Handlers on the progress of a claim as and when require, updating financial information and issues that may arise from within the claims process.

* Deliver an effective and speedy claims administration and settlement service to clients. In doing so, operate accurate and efficient practices and procedures meeting all company and divisional targets.

* Full accountability for the timeliness and accuracy of work carried out with appropriate issues escalated accordingly.

* Act as point of contact and take full accountability for all claims, representing the Group to clients, underwriters, brokers, agents and others as appropriate.

* Deal with general enquiries on all claims handled by the claims team when required.

* Manage the day-to-day correspondence receipt process and prioritise accordingly ensuring the most urgent matters are identified and treated suitably.

* Use a variety of sources, including own experience, to assess validity of potential claims. Additionally, confirm value of potential claims using appropriate information.

* Maintain additional data records as required in particular, monthly claims spreadsheets.

* Maintain own knowledge and skills base at an acceptable level for technical issues, and PC based applications, for example, Excel, Word and other Microsoft office functions.

* Prioritise own workload ensuring the most urgent matters are dealt with accordingly.

* Provide instruction, guidance and support to new employees as required.

* Ensure your team remains compliant with FCA guidelines, providing technical help and

support when required.

* Deal with compliance issues raised by the compliance department ensuring all items are brought to a satisfactory and timely conclusion.

Broking of Marine and Transportation claims which includes but is not limited to:

* Gathering information from clients for claims presentation purposes.

* Building and maintaining on-going relationships with clients including scheduling and attending meetings and understanding the nature of clients' businesses or lives.

* Advising clients whether and when they need to make a claim on their policies.

* Developing relationships with underwriter's claims departments, loss adjusters and other professionals to facilitate the smooth handling of client's claims.

* Negotiate with underwriters' claims department in order to achieve satisfactory resolution of client's claims.

* Administer the full service offering for claims department in London, liaising with internal colleagues as required.

* Manage queries to resolution in a timely and efficient manner to maximise claim turnaround time.

* Ensure the maintenance of complete, accurate and up-to-date claim records, both physically and electronically.

* Ensure FCA regulations are always complied with.
