As part of our innovative Ahead of the Game programme, we are recruiting for a Post 16 – Transition Adviser to lead an engagement programme for young people in Year 11 in schools across East Sussex.

The Ahead of the Game Transition Adviser will support identified, at risk of NEET (not in education, employment, or training) young people, to encourage and support them to progress into appropriate post-16 provision. The role involves the delivery of 1:1 intervention and small groupwork sessions themed on aspirations and post-16 pathways.

We are looking for someone who can work with initiative and creativity to fill this role that sits within the Youth Employability Service (YES) who support young people across East Sussex into positive progressions.

Main Responsibilities

Engage with schools across the county to identify Year 11 learners who are at risk of not progressing into the next level of education or training and act as a conduit for transition referrals.
Provide direct Information, Advice and Guidance support to a limited (50 in total) number of young people through 1:1 support and small group workshops in terms 2 and 3 of Year 11.
Collaborate with internal colleagues and local partners to design group work sessions which highlight post 16 progression pathways.
Ensure accurate client record keeping using the Aspire database.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of local labour market information, progression opportunities and resources to aid young people’s progression post 16.
