Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a unique Christian charity using aircraft to deliver help and hope across the developing world.  MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce, medical supplies and Christian workers in the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. We operate in over 30 countries with over 130 planes.

Being a global organisation, sometimes working in very remote locations, our IT business applications and infrastructure are core to our ability to function safely and effectively.   Our IT function covers a wide portfolio including inhouse developed and off the shelf applications that require customer focussed support.  We now have an opportunity for an experienced Applications Support Analyst to join our IT team.

The Applications Support Analyst will be responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd line support for all MAFs business applications, carrying out diagnosis of issues, and solving technical and application problems.  You will also carry out testing, software deployments and maintain documentation for each application.  A customer focused approach is required in addressing issues and user queries.

The job holder will be the subject matter expert for business applications, addressing issues and change requests. You will liaise with application owners and developers in taking ownership of incident resolutions and keeping users informed.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent experience in technical support, have at least 2 years’ experience in technical investigation, troubleshooting and diagnostics, along with business analysis experience and an understanding of the ITIL framework. 

It would be an advantage if the job holder has technical experience in software development, database administration (MySQL/MariaDB & SQL Server Management Studio) and Active Directory.


There is an occupational requirement for the job holder to be a committed Christian who is able to agree with and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF. The job holder will be expected to take part in and biblical reflection, and to be a role model for the organisation in accordance with our Christian beliefs and standards in the workplace.

Essential:
Aptitude in abstract and verbal reasoning
Excellent written and spoken English
Investigation & diagnostic skills
Previous experience in a technical support role
Experience in Microsoft Office platforms
Experience of supporting IT systems and users
A methodical approach to troubleshooting systems
Experience of developing and delivering user training
Able to communicate well with all staff levels
Excellent attention to detail

Desirable:
Understanding of, or worked within ITIL framework
Working in a cross-cultural environment
IT Service Desk knowledge and experience (preferably JIRA)
Understanding of software development, DB Administration (MySQL/MarisDB &SQL Server Management Studio), Active Directory
