What’s great about working with children and young people?

It’s so many things, seeing young people develop skills, confidence and self-esteem… making friends… trying new things… developing resilience… establishing their own identity… achieving dreams and goals… reaching their potential!

You could be part of this.

We are looking for someone who can quickly establish rapport with children and young people and their families, and take the lead in arranging and delivering fun activities that challenge and inspire participants.

You’ll join an established team working with vulnerable children and young people aged 8-19 years, delivering a programme of late afternoon activities, Saturday clubs and school holiday trips and events.

You will build the programme for your area; planning, organising and risk assessing activities that match the interests and needs of the young people, supporting personal development, independence and community engagement. You’ll then lead the activities, working alongside colleagues and volunteers to support the young people to participate, interact and make choice and decisions together.

You’ll be allocated an existing caseload of children and young people with disabilities, and will take on new referrals, working with participants and their families to create appropriate care plans. You will need to keep excellent records and maintain regular communication with families.

We want to reach more young people, so there will be opportunities to promote the service by visiting schools and community groups, and to develop wider networks.

This is a full-time role to include Saturdays, with flexibility on the other days and hours to be worked. The role covers West Kent so you must have your own car. We have several offices across the area, so base is flexible.
