I am working for a busy FMCG company who are looking for a Commercial Sales Manager to join their sales team.

The purpose of the Commercial Sales Manager is to provide strategic direction, leadership and management for a designated portfolio across private label and branded products.

The commercial sales manager is responsible for ensuring all the sales activity in their customer base positively contributes towards company growth and profitability targets. To thrive in this role you must maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally at all levels to maximise and drive sales, profit and distribution.


Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Commercial Sales Manager:

• Develop customer plans to promote effective sales and strategy to drive grown, retention and new business
• Manage customer portfolio
• Day to day management of customer accounts whilst delivering strategy in line with company profitability targets
• Woking with a wider team to develop growth strategies for specific categories within the business
• Continuous review and management of internal forecasting, highlighting opportunities and risks proactively
• Build strong and effective relationships with key senior customer contacts and maintain a strong understanding of the wider market and trends to be able to proactively provide insight and solutions
• Manage own label contacts and forecasts as required to ensure you are monitoring consumption vs purchased
• Identify business opportunities to increase brand
• Negotiate cost price changes, range, distribution and shelf positioning


Skills & Experience required:

• Proven account management skills including negotiations with senior stakeholders
• Experience of branded and own label within FMCG
• Previous track record of working to KPI’s and achieving targets
• Strong commercial awareness
• The ability to manage relationships at all levels within the business and with customers
• Excellent communication skills
• Be willing and able to undertake regular national travel as required to manage customer relationship
• Previous experience working with a commodity product
• Experience working with Amazon, M&S, or Ocado food retailers
