This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a small, friendly team within a successful company in South Kent as a Category Manager.
If you have previous experience working within Category Management, are a strong negotiator and understand supplier and contracts management, and legal implications, then this may be the right opportunity for you!
This role can either be 100% remote or you can work flexible hours within the office if local.
Duties to include:
* Building strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to improve pricing and quality of services
* Seeking new opportunities with suppliers by negotiating to improve trading terms, and secure central income and merchandising support
* Managing product lifecycle and developing an exit strategy for unsuccessful products
* Taking responsibility for the integrity of the product catalogue
* Developing strategies from consumer category insights
* Maintaining the range of products available to ensure customer needs are met
* Developing long-term plans for the category
* Working on demand management and seasonality looking at what motivates the shopper, current trends, key competitors, and strategies
* Creating and developing a strategic long-term plan for the development of the category
* Supporting the Purchasing team with demand planning
* Being responsible for the management of budget development and revenue
The successful candidate will be/have:
* Previous experience negotiating with suppliers and category management
* Non-industry specific buying & supplier management experience
* An understanding of contracts management & legal implications
* Able to identify customer needs and solve problems based on feedback
* Knowledgeable in ways to improve customer service
* Proactive in addressing important issues and driven to achieve meaningful results
* Results-orientated
* Adaptable with a willingness to learn
* Buying and supplier management experience
* Understanding of contracts management and legal implications
* Strong IT skills
* Excellent communication skills
