In the context of these exciting changes the University has refreshed key roles within the newly created Directorate of Governance and Assurance. As such, the opportunity has arisen for a professional manager to join our team in the role of “Assistant Director (Governance)”. In this role you will translate and communicate the vision for a governance and compliance culture at Kent which is supportive of its vision, mission and strategy whilst meeting its legislative and regulatory obligations, and embodying the Nolan Principles of Public Life.

As Assistant Director (Governance) you will:

Be accountable for the coordination and provision of a high quality and professional governance and compliance function, setting service standards and operational plans
Develop and implement all necessary policies and processes to ensure that external governance reports and regulatory data are prepared and published within agreed time-frames and to the required standards
Identify, lead and/or manage strategic and/or enhancement projects arising from senior governance and management committee decisions and from sectoral legislative, governance and compliance initiatives
Lead on change projects with a focus on enhancement of service delivery, developing a continuous improvement culture

To be successful in the role you will have/be:

Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent qualification or experience
Significant professional experience working in a legal, governance or compliance related role in either a large organisation or a third level institution
A successful track record of developing and translating strategic plans and decisions into operational practice
Excellent understanding of how to manage change in order to foster an environment of innovation and change and to lead teams in an evolving environment

Interviews are likely to be held in the week commencing 06 or 13 December 2021.
