Operations Support Officer

The Historic Dockyard Chatham is a leading visitor attraction welcoming up to 180,000 visitors in a year and is also a thriving community with 115 residential properties and over 100 commercial tenants. It is a unique heritage environment, being the most complete Dockyard of the age of sail in the world. The estate is owned and operated by Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust (The Trust), an independent charity, that has transformed the formally derelict post-industrial site into the 21st Century, 24/7, place that it is today.

We are looking to recruit an Operations Support Officer with strong administrative skills who can assist our team in the successful delivery of our Educational charitable purpose. This role will also be play a significant role in the delivery of our major events programme which includes our highly successful Salute to the `40s event.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks working across our Visitor Experience, Lifelong Learning and Collections teams. Experience of working within an office/administrative environment and supporting delivery of events is desirable but not essential as training/mentoring can be provided for the right candidate.

To support the Chief Operating Officer and the wider Operations Teams (Collections, Lifelong Learning, Visitor Experience, Communications and Public Engagement) through effective departmental co-ordination, undertaking departmental and project-based administration, and financial record keeping. Provide essential administrative and operational support to the Trust’s major events programme. Provide essential support for the effective operation of the CHDT office and supporting inbound communications via telephone.
