ABOUT THE ROLE: ASSISTANT MANAGER (DRIVER ESSENTIAL)

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager for an established Day Service. The service supports 8 people. This is a full time and permanent position working with a very well-established autistic care provider. Very interesting and varied role with scope for progression.

The Kent Autistic Trust provides specialist support for around 100 people with autism and complex needs. We operate throughout Medway and across Kent. Our primary aim is to ensure autistic adults have the best quality of life that they can have. People with autism are at the heart of all that we do.

Working with The Kent Autistic Trust offers a variety of different experiences every day, and the opportunity to make a difference to the people we support. Those we support participate in a wide range of activities such as shopping, cooking, going to the cinema, enjoying arts and crafts and, weather permitting, social get togethers such as barbecues.

The role of Assistant Manager is integral to the smooth operation of our Day Service. You will be responsible for supporting the Day Resource Manager to ensure that KATs high standards are maintained and deputise in the absence of the manager. The role is fully hands-on. Many of the people we support have their own vehicle and we also have our own fleet of people carriers. As this is a driver essential role, you must hold a valid driving licence.

KAT has a strong training ethos. Training is centrally managed, and the Assistant Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the hands-on training of new support staff is being met and that staff are progressing through their foundation training. The Assistant Manager will ensure that staff receive constructive feedback and that the regime of quarterly supervisions and practical competency assessments including administering medication, manual handling etc are adhered to.

The Assistant Manager will lead by example, adopting a proactive approach to achieving a positive, engaging, and promotional relationship building role with the people we support, families, staff, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders. They also help us to maintain and develop effective communication systems within the team and other services.

The Assistant Manager will be required to undertake ad hoc administrative task. We are currently transferring to digital management systems, and therefore applicants do need to be IT literate as they will be one of our onsite champions helping with the rollout of current and new systems, supported by our In-house Digital Partner.

This is not a role for the faint hearted but it is a fantastic opportunity for a natural problem-solver who is excited about change and can take challenges in their stride.

To succeed you must already have solid Team Leader or Deputy Manager experience and be able to provide reassuring leadership in an emergency. The Assistant Manager roles at KAT are our ideal natural succession for future management roles and therefore there is opportunity for progression for aspirational staff into management roles across the Trust.

We provide comprehensive induction and pay for regulatory Social Care qualifications. On top of this our inhouse practice development team provide an excellent level of specialist PBS training, coaching and ongoing support to ensure your specialist knowledge is continually developed.

We pride ourselves on having a great team spirit, our existing specialist staff are amazing and are really looking forward to welcoming some new colleagues.

If you are looking for a rewarding local role then we would love to hear from you.

Benefits of working for us:

o Be part of an outstanding support team
o Full paid for training and support towards Health and Social Care Qualifications
