Residential Child Care Worker - Children and Young Persons
Mid Kent
Temporary / adhoc basis
£10.09+ per hour (inclusive of holiday)


Company/Organisation:
With national partnerships with large childcare organisations and many relationships with local companies and charities we are continually looking for skilled Child Residential Care Workers to pick up temporary and adhoc shifts in the Mid Kent Area. We have a number of clients with sites across Medway, Sittingbourne and Maidstone and the surrounding areas where we currently have a demand for adhoc shift cover.
Through working with Hays, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best child care providers in Mid Kent across small-large residential settings. We are able to offer flexibility in terms of working hours, that suit you. Whether you are looking for full-time or part-time work, we want to hear from you.

Role:
As a residential childcare support worker you will be required to support children living in small-large residential settings. Depending on your experience you may be suited to varied settings including residential care of children aged up to 17, leaving care settings for children aged 16-21 and settings with unaccompanied refugee minors. Children in these settings, typically due to past trauma, will display extreme challenging behaviour including anger and verbal abuse. Children in some settings may also present various physical and learning disabilities.
Your role will include; offering emotional support, provide primary basic care, create a nurturing, caring and consistent environment/atmosphere.
Shift types can vary: Long days, Split shifts: AMs & PMs, waking nights and sleep-ins.

Skills/Experience required:
In order to be successful, you should be passionate about providing a high level of care, dedicated to your role as a residential children's support worker and have the ability to offer kindness and compassion.

* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years (Hays must gain references to cover this experience).
* Be flexible to travel - driving licence and own transport is preferable to get to shifts, but is not a necessity
* Be flexible in your availability - communicate clearly what days / shifts you can work
* Experience with providing support and care to adults or children
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in residential child care are desirable but not vital.
* Having a DBS already signed up to the update service is a great advantage
