We know that Covid affects people’s mental health, particularly where there are challenging social problems - such as housing issues, debt or becoming isolated from others. The role will provide support in these areas, alleviating the social pressures people face. As part of our mental health link team, you will support people with issues related to mental health, physical health, finance, housing, employment, as well as referring and signposting to other services in the community.
We have an opportunity to provide a new, time-limited service focused on people and communities most affected by Covid, preventing its impact in the longer term. The service will focus on those on low incomes, and individuals facing higher risks to their mental health, including people with long-term conditions, and existing mental health problems. The support provided will add to the provision of the highly successful Live Well Kent & Medway mental health and wellbeing service, which includes Porchlight’s own services, as well as a range of delivery partners.
You will work with people on a one-to-one basis, assessing their needs, setting goals and helping them become more connected with others and their local community. The role involves working closely with other professionals and organisations, including district and borough councils, to make sure people are receiving the most appropriate support for their needs.
The role requires:
- Good communication and people skills
- The ability to develop supportive and trusted relationships with people
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with other professionals and organisations
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Interview date: 5th, 6th and 7th July 2021
Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2021
Location: Positions available in Thanet, Swale, Dover and Gravesend
Working Pattern: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with some flexibility required
About Porchlight: Porchlight is passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where everyone has a chance to thrive.
Employee Benefits: As a member of the Porchlight team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:
- Free life insurance

- 25 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 days after 5 years service) pro rata

- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and trained Mental Health First Aider's
