If you have excellent project and planning skills and you are looking for an exciting and rewarding new challenge, this full-time, fixed term role in the School of Psychology could be just right for you.
You will support the day-to-day running of a longitudinal survey project on the topic of social attitudes. The post is funded by a 5-year European Research Council Starting grant awarded to Dr Nikhil Sengupta, titled “The psychology of public policy: Inequality, Immigration and International Relations (PSYPOL)”. You will provide assistance and co-ordination in the management of this large-scale research project.
The project involves two largescale data collection initiatives – a four-wave, longitudinal survey of 50,000 people across the UK and an eight-wave, longitudinal social network study of approximately 20,000 secondary school students across approximately 20 schools in England.
As Project Officer you will:
• Understand the rules, operation, and processes of the ERC Starting Grant Scheme to communicate the guidelines to team members when needed and to ensure that tasks that fall under their responsibility are completed following the ERC guidelines
• Assist with financial aspects of the research project in order to ensure that the project progresses and is completed following the ERC guidelines
• Assist with organizational aspects of the project to ensure that the project runs smoothly and its non-research related items are delivered as planned
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Educated to A level standard or equivalent
• Proven experience working in a high-level administrative/PA role where first-class communication, both verbal and written, and decision-making skills were essential
• Experience using Microsoft packages, including Word and Excel, on a regular basis
The School of Psychology overlooks Canterbury with a view of the cathedral. It is a leading centre of research and education with a commitment to scientific excellence, a concern for tackling problems of contemporary relevance and a commitment to have positive impact.
We currently have over 40 faculty members, 80 PhD students and a diverse range of externally - funded research projects that employ numerous post-doctoral staff. All are supported by an experienced Professional and Technical Services team.
