Specialist Support Worker

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: £9.50 p.h. for Experienced Staff

(Experienced Staff will have 2plusyears specialist experience in autism, learning disability or mental health). Starting hourly rate of pay for in experienced staff is £9.33p.h. increasing to £9.50ph after 1 years service.

HOURS: 37.5

SHIFT: 6 week rolling rota, please see rota attached.

LOCATION: Butlers Park Way, Strood

About the Specialist Support Worker Role:

You will need to be an experienced Support Worker, with at least 2 years experience working in the field of autism, learning disabilities or mental health care/support.

You will be Confident in Lone Working, Challenging Behaviour (Verbal, Physical and Property Damaging) and Medication. You will have the ability to think on your feet to solve any problems that arise and have a good working knowledge of Safeguarding and Mental Capacity.

Using the above skills, you will help our residents with their day to day lives, encouraging them to live as independently as possible. Providing exceptional person-centred care. Building meaningful relationships with them, their families, and other professionals. Working within either our Residential, Supported Living or Day Services.

Training Provided:

Online Care Certificate and evidence portfolio (accept transferable evidenced certificate)

5 days virtual induction covering autism and care compliance.

3 days Studio III

About the Service: Butlers Park Way

Butlers Park Way is a Supported Living Service in a 3-story block of flats in Strood. Supporting 6 autistic tenants, and one additional tenant outside of the block, to live as independently as possible.

Providing 1:1 support and guidance to the tenants. Supporting them to do all the things they want, which may include, going on long walks, day trips, shopping, cooking, holidays, the list never ends.

Whilst also, being able to manage the occasional instances of verbal and or physical outburst from those we support.

Most of the tenants have their own mobility cars and staff drive these as required by the tenants. Being able to drive a tenants manual car will be an ESSENTIAL requirement for this role.

Tasks / Responsibilities of a Specialist Support Worker:

o Drive an individuals mobility car or service vehicle. Manual Licence required (ESSENTIAL)
o The Specialist Support Worker role may include but not be limited to:
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting and damaging property.
o Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks and shopping,
o Administering medication
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Be confident and experienced in lone working.
o Household management tasks including cooking, cleaning etc.
o Uphold their privacy, confidentially and dignity.
o Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o Ensuring written records are correctly maintained.
