Technical Assistant - Printing Department

Prompt Side manufactures bespoke drapery and printed backcloths to the theatre, film, TV and events industries.

We are appointing a Technical Assistant, a new role to be fulfilled by a self-motivated and confident team player, keen to expand and develop their technical knowledge in a dynamic and creative environment.

The candidate will work alongside our MD with responsibilities to include learning how to programme and operate our wide format printers. You will be eager to learn new skills, have an eye for detail and be quality conscious. An interest in or competency with Illustrator and Photoshop would be useful.

Regular demands in this role will be calculating the correct square meterage of textiles and other print media to ensure low wastage of raw materials.

We are a small, friendly team and encourage a positive, can-do attitude in the work place.

Job description:

Programme and operate our wide format digital printers.
Operate our wide format heat press.
Liaise with our team to prioritise job order.
Manual handling - assisting with lifting and placing substrates and textiles at the printer.
Liquid glazing of printed MDF and Plywood boards, post printing.
Maintenance and upkeep of technical equipment.

Job requirements

The right to live and work in the UK.
Competency in Maths.
Fluent in English.
Well organised with good communication skills.
Keen to help colleagues in all departments.


Hours: Monday to Friday 9 - 5.30pm
Statutory holiday entitlement of 28 days (including Bank Holidays)
There is a a probationary period of one month.
