Medical communications (MedComms) is a career that combines science and business, building upon knowledge gained within higher education within a more commercial setting, which essentially enables those in the medical profession to make better and more informed decisions in regards to health, and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
I am working with a number of award-winning medical communications in Kent who are experiencing exceptional levels of growth due to market developments, in part due to the needs of there clients, but also the impact of the pandemic and the need for more in-depth, accessible and ultimately engaging content. As a result of these factors my clients are looking to developer and strengthen their internal teams from the bottom up, bringing on board the very best calibre candidates that the local market has to offer – a career within medical communications is challenging, exciting, rewarding, and full of growth and personal development!
A typical starting point in the industry is as an Account Executive/Project Manager, which includes:
• Responsibility for a portfolio of pharmaceutical clients
• Developing lasting relationships with clients and other external departments
• Managing a diverse portfolio of communication projects
• Developing proposals, handling budgets, ensuring profitability and timeframes
• Demonstrating sound knowledge of medical communications and medical topics
• Maintaining industry guidelines and compliance
• Proactively problem solving and handling project associated issues/concerns
• Undertaking independent research for use within projects
You will have excellent communication skills, be naturally methodical and meticulous in your approach and comfortable working within a team towards a common goal. This sector is incredibly varied, one minute working on a proposal and the next checking flight times and hotels so will need excellent organisational skills too!
