Your new company
This consultancy has been established for over 5 decades and operate across multiple offices within the UK. They partner with the public sector within social housing, education, central and local government as well as within the private sector. Projects range from new build, refurbishment, and maintenance programmes.

Over the course of the first lockdown, they tendered for numerous projects and successfully won most of them, which means they have pipeline of work that leads them into the latter stages of 2022. They continued to tender for more work after lockdown and have recently secured more projects and still have some in final stages of tender which have long term commitments on them because there is a lot of new build projects coming in. Essentially, they're in a strong position and with another full lockdown, they are still busy because some work is in pre-construction stages and they can still get to site.

Flexible working arrangements are also promoted within the business, working from home, and working from other offices are all encouraged, as long as the work is done. Especially in the current climate where social distancing can be difficult to maintain an office environment. As the Clerk of Works, you will be expected to safely go to site to carry out your duties when required.

Your new role
In order to be considered for this role you will need have the following experience and qualifications; hold a construction related qualification such as NVQ, HNC, HND, C&Gs or equivalent. Ideally a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works and or Chartered Institute of Building. Be familiar with contractual requirements of Clerk of Works, Quality Control Inspector and the procedure and processes required within construction and contract. Working knowledge and understanding of JCT suite of contracts and NEC3. Understand current NHBC standards, Building Regulations and methods of construction, concrete and timber frame, traditional and modern methods of construction. Have knowledge of Low and High Rise residential construction. Hold a full driving licence and access to own vehicle for business use.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have the following; knowledge of preparing fee proposals, H&S legislation and CDM Regulations, experience in Management of Small to Medium sized projects, identifying building defects and preparing specifications, working knowledge of IT systems and software such as MS Project, Office, & AutoCAD and knowledge of the JCT forms of Contract.

What you'll get in return
As part of the package for this role, you can expect a salary of up to £45k along with a 25 days holiday + bank holidays which goes up after 2+ years' service, professional fees paid for, pension options. Flexible working arrangements and the ability to work from home is also available.
