Our client, a manufacturing business based in Aylesham, are currently looking to recruit a Warehouse Supervisor to ensure a smooth and timely operation, supporting the Logistics Team to achieve their KPIs and meet customer demand. The primary objective of the role holder is to take front-line responsibility of the Packing Desk, to minimise down time by providing a basic troubleshooting service and constantly reviewing current working practices to improve department efficiencies.

The successful candidate will be required to work 10pm-6am. You can access site by train however it will be easier by car from certain areas of Kent. This is a temporary to permanent position.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Supervision of the Packing Desk team of up to three staff, including the management of performance and involvement in appraisals
* Conduct job-specific training for the team and identify further training needs, liaising with management where applicable
* Effective allocation and rotation of staff breaks to minimise disruption to the Packing Desk
* Communication of issues to management including equipment faults or breakdowns and losses in productivity, whilst troubleshooting basic software malfunctions
* Take ownership of the Packing Desk processes and continually seek ways to make improvements to current methods
* Responsibility for health and safety of the Packing Desk, including assisting with risk assessments where necessary
* Stack pallets with boxes from the packing belt, ensuring that the products are consistent on each pallet, and stacked safely
* Check box quality on full pallets, and wrap correctly to ensure safe transportation through the warehouse and to the customer
* Responsibility for checking and adhering the correct pallet labels are applied to the appropriate pallet
* Safe operation of Powered Pallet Truck (PPT), hand pallet truck, hand scanners, and other such equipment as necessary to the role
* Awareness of metal detection system malfunctions, including completion of near-miss forms if metal detection or box damage is observed
* Provide an adequate supply of new pallets in the Packing Desk area to ensure a smooth and continuous service

Personal Specification

* Previous experience of supervising or managing staff, ideally managing performance, and conducting appraisal
* Previous experience of conducting on-the-job training and identifying training needs
* Experience of working in a high-volume manufacturing, fresh produce, or warehouse environment
* Excellent communication skills with the ability and confidence to delegate effectively
* Ability to carry boxes weighing up to 20kgs on a repetitive basis
* Basic computer literacy including standard Microsoft packages
