An opportunity has arisen for an experienced part time Yard/Security Controller to manage and control the movement of UK and overseas vehicles on site at our depot in Dartford. The control of the yard is essential for effective loading and off loading, and the safety of all vehicles and personnel is paramount at all times.
The Role
• Reporting to the Warehouse Manager
• The position involves controlling the arrival and departure of lorries, together with their multilingual drivers arriving from Europe.
• You will be responsible for the supervision of all vehicles while at the same time taking responsibility for staff and visitor access.
• Provide site security and suggestions for improvements.
• Working 16 hours per week: Sunday 7am - 11am and Monday to Thursday 8am – 11am
• Employment will be on a permanent basis but subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.
The Person
• Good communication skills and an awareness of transport-related Health and Safety is required.
• The position requires someone who is organised, calm and authoritative but polite and effective when dealing with drivers and visitors.
• Previous experience in a similar position is required
• A flexible approach to work and hours is required at all times as you may be asked to work additional hours/days to cover for holidays/sickness.
• Own transport required owing to location/shift patterns.
