Step up to help Young Carers!

Young Carers have different life experiences and challenges than their peers. Their caring role can impact on their health and wellbeing, educational opportunities, relationships and future life. The right support can make a huge difference, so this role has been specifically developed to support Young Carers to develop resilience and improve their emotional health and wellbeing.

Social Prescribing supports people find non-medical solutions to help them improve their lives and overcome barriers. This could include sports, dance, hobbies, social groups, youth hubs, volunteering or other wellbeing-boosting activities and solutions. You will work with children and families to co-produce a wellbeing and support plan to meet the individual needs of the Young Carer, and you should be able to support young people in a way that inspires trust and confidence, motivating them to reach their full potential.

It is essential that you have an understanding of how to prioritise need, and are able to recognise when to refer on to specialist services, being confident in your ability to communicate at different levels across all sectors.

The position covers the East Kent area and you will join our established team. Applicants should be organised, proactive and confident, and must have experience of working with young people and families in social care, health, education or the voluntary and community sector.

This role requires you to work both independently and as part of a wider team to achieve targets and outcomes. You will need to demonstrate a robust knowledge of confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding and boundaries in all aspects of your work. Car driver essential.

Help Young Carers live a better life now and in their future.
