Leigh Academies Trust have a rare opportunity to appoint a Pensions Assistant who will join our highly efficient in-house Payroll Team. The main purpose of this role is to contribute to the Trust’s overall objectives by ensuring that comprehensive and correct financial information is entered, maintained and reported on. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established payroll team in the education sector.

The position if offered on a permanent, part time basis offering an actual salary of £14,970, based on 18.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will join us as soon as possible.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the following;

To support the administration of the Teachers’ Pension and Local Government Pension Schemes
Attend training courses and forums to ensure we receive up to date information relative to the 2 schemes
Liaise with TPS and LGPS to ensure efficient administration of the schemes
Assist the Payroll Team in the interpretation and application of the Teachers’ Pension and Local Government Pension Scheme regulations and any other pension related legislation
Communicate with scheme members and employers to resolve any pension related queries
Assess new teachers’ records to establish the correct scheme for them
Apply for pension estimates for retiring employees
Give presentations to employees to raise awareness of scheme changes, etc
Assist payroll team with complex pension calculations and procedures


Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2020, our Trust will comprise 28 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 15 primaries and 2 special) educating over 16,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have one further secondary academy in development phase, due to open in September 2021. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.
