KCC's vision is that every child and young person, from pre-birth to 19 (25) years and their family, who need Early Help Open Access services will receive them in a timely and responsive way, so that they are safeguarded, their educational, social and emotional needs are met and outcomes are good and they are able to contribute positively to their communities now and in the future, including their active engagement in learning and employment.
Youth work is a key part of Kent’s Early Help Open Access model; delivered within friendly and supportive youth environments which offer a wide range of sessions, activities and events to help develop and support young people from above 8 years old to teenagers. These include: Music, Art, Sports, Personal Development and Learning and much more. Detached youth work within the local community is also delivered within our Youth offer. 
You will hold a Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) in Youth Work, Health and Social Care or other relevant field and/or have significant professional experience in working with young people. The role of the Early Help Worker is to be part of a team that provides help and guidance to young people and their families. This includes casework, group work planning and delivery and leading evening and occasional weekend work. You will be based at New House Youth Hub and required to work across the wider Swale District.
Your ability to create rapport and build relationships with young people and families will be vital to enable you to affect positive change and improve outcomes for them. You will have excellent knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will be flexible and creative in your approaches, working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
The role requires you to be mobile with the ability to travel in a timely and flexible manner across the geographical area of Swale District and throughout the county of Kent and is essential for carrying out the duties of this post.
