Seasonal Gardeners
Salary in line with national minimum/living wage
From April until September, the Horticulture Department at Howletts Wild Animal Park has vacancies for two seasonal gardeners.
Working with a small team, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our grounds and gardens at Howletts Wild Animal Park. Duties will mainly include grass cutting and strimming, but could also include hedge cutting, cleanliness and appearance of paths. Other duties will include planting and maintenance of annual boarders, baskets, tubs and urns, maintenance of herbaceous, shrub and mixed boarders. Ideally, we would like someone with greenhouse experience.
The ideal candidates will be trained to NVQ level 2, or equivalent, with experience working as a gardener. Qualifications are an advantage but not essential for this role as experience of similar work will also be taken into account. You must have good general horticultural knowledge and have a good level of physical fitness as these roles will involve heavy lifting. A valid driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive company vehicles.
This position offers the successful candidates the opportunity to develop their skills in a unique environment. We are looking for people who are motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Working hours are 8.00am – 4.30pm and may include weekend and bank holiday work. All applicants must have right to work in the UK.
