An opportunity has arisen for an officer to join our Home Ownership team primarily based in Dover but must be available to work from any office in the East Kent Housing area.

The successful candidate will be the first point of customer contact for East Kent Housing’s leaseholders and for tenants applying to exercise their ‘right to buy’ their council property.

The post holder will have responsibility for resolving leaseholder queries at the first point of contact and, using a variety of communication methods, undertake and be responsible for key administration services including transactional work associated with services charge calculations and collection.


The successful applicant will support leasehold administration services in accordance with policy including assignments and Section 20 consultations.


Part of the administration will be the processing of ‘right to buy’ applications in accordance with the legislation and to engage with customers in order to help maximise income from service charges and, to help minimise arrears and non-payment through prompt and appropriate action.


The successful candidate will have:


Strong numeracy skills to be able to calculate service charges and ‘right to buy’ discounts as well as have strong negotiation and influencing skills and be able to adapt their style and approach to meet the needs of a diverse community.


They will be able to prioritise tasks and manage their workload and be expected to fully use all IT systems including Excel, Microsoft 365 and the successful candidate will also have previous experience in a Customer/Transactional Services Team or other front-line operation.
