Production Manager (Engineering)



We are currently recruiting for a Production Manager with an Industrial Engineering background to join our clients' successful Manufacturing team near Maidstone.



As a global company, our client uses the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology across all of their production sites. The Production Manager will use World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology, principles and tools to relaunch the Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Pillar at the site and will participate in activities within other WCM Pillars.



Good knowledge of/or eager to learn WCM (or knowledge six sigma), mobility to travel in Europe are a must for knowledge sharing and training (this will be adhoc and not a regular requirement)





Key Responsibilities:



* To ensure that all Safety Health & Environmental standards (whether statutory or mandatory) are known and followed, and that where shortfalls exist realistic improvement plans are identified and implemented.
* To maximise productivity levels through the communication of current achievements in; REE, OEE, KPI's, Process Check Sheets, Days of Inventory, Factory Back orders/OTIF.
* To understand the over consumption of material, when required, to assist in the development of improvement processes.
* To ensure production targets are achieved and plant is utilised to maximum efficiency through regular meetings with the planning team. To take action to resolve capacity overloads and demand spikes with the planning team.
* Own the production process and provide a summary of the prior day's performance at the daily factory meetings.
* To organise the equipment and labour to meet customer requirements utilising available resources in the most cost effective and optimised manner.
* To direct and motivate team members and to support them in the resolution of problems in order to ensure that manufacturing targets are effectively and efficiently achieved.
* To develop and improve the factory's performance with respect to Quality Assurance, both proactively and by reacting to ISO audits.
* To establish a continuous improvement culture through utilisation of WCM philosophies, to deliver and embed, via coaching of direct reports and demonstration through behaviours.
* Provide support and encouragement to team members to raise WCM Red, Blue and Green tags, together with Quick Kaizen paperwork to capture improvement ideas and peoples knowledge.
* Conducts people management activities such as; appraisals, return to work interviews, disciplinary in accordance with company systems to effectively manage individual performance and to develop competences and capability.
* To identify, plan and implement changes to working practices, procedures or individuals' skills/knowledge in order to achieve ongoing improvements in safety, quality, productivity, or customer service.
* Work directly with Process/Quality Engineers to investigate root cause analysis in quality problems and losses and participate in the completion of Q-EWO's, as required, in real time.
* Attend weekly Planning Meeting and provide an input to ensure an optimised plan is developed to best achieve the required production needs.
* Act is a role model for safety behaviours, through demonstrating safe behaviours and not tolerating unsafe conditions or practices.







The package is as follows:

Salary - £35K to £40K, £40K dependant on experience

Hours - Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 17:00, Friday 07:30 - 15:30 with 30 minutes unpaid for lunch.

Holiday - 20 days in the first year (pro-rata), increasing to 25 days for the second year onwards.

Company Pension Scheme.
