About Us
Affinity Trust was set up in 1991, and since then we have been steadily growing to now support over 1,000 people across England and Scotland. Our mission is to work with people with learning disabilities to lead the lives they choose in their communities and become as independent as possible. Each day will be different and full of amazing interactions with the people you will be working with.
The Role
Being a support worker means that you are integral to the day-to-day lives of the people you support, helping with various activities such as assistance with personal care, jobs around the house, planning and preparing meals and maintaining health and wellbeing.
We are recruiting for a full time Support Worker in West Malling. We support two gentlemen, S & M, who are in their 60s/70s in 2 flats next door to each other. The role requires full support in all areas, including personal care, and there are some obsessive-compulsive behaviours and autism in this service.
M likes going to the cinema, collecting DVDs, John Wayne and cowboys. S loves charity shops (and has to go every day), and being out in the community, including his visits to Costa. S is a selective mute, but will say the odd word every now and again, once he is comfortable with you.
This is a full time post, working two to three 15-hour shifts per week (from 7am - 10pm), paid at £8.50 per hour.
Skills & Experience
You do not necessarily need to have experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, although this would be an advantage. If you are confident and passionate about making a difference, we can give you all the training you need to be a great support worker.
You will need to be able to work flexibly across a 7 - day rota to include bank holidays and weekends.
All our Support Workers complete shadow shifts before working with the people we support and those that have not previously worked in care will be supported with completing the Care Certificate.
We recognise that although this job is rewarding, it can also be challenging, so in return for your hard work, Affinity Trust offer you:
• 28 days paid holiday per year (inc. bank holidays)
• Competitive pension scheme matching contributions up to 6%
• Discount scheme for shopping, days out, cinema tickets, groceries and much more
• 24-hour helpline for all employees
• Funded and ongoing training for your own development
Be the difference, change lives
Basic hourly pay is £8.50
This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will be provided by Affinity Trust. Affinity Trust are an equal opportunities employer that promotes diversity within our workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of sexual orientation, race, age, gender, disability, religion or belief.
