About the role: We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker who will form part of the Site Team at Oaks Primary Academy. This position requires you to be responsible for the care of the school premises, a range of general maintenance duties within the buildings and the grounds whilst ensuring high standards of cleaning and maintaining the security of school premises are upheld. Applicants will need a flexible work approach as the duties may vary occasionally. You should be trustworthy, reliable, hard-working, conscientious and be able to work independently or as part of a team. You will have a general knowledge of Health & Safety, basic IT skills, a good understanding of Safeguarding, be able to undertake basic maintenance tasks, and be responsible for the security of the building whilst on duty.

This position is full time and offered on a fixed term basis until the end of August 2020. The split shift pattern requires the successful candidate to work 7am - 1pm and 4pm - 6pm with the flexibility for school events and holiday working.

Working for Oaks Primary Academy: Oaks Primary Academy is a small academy with approximately 160 pupils on roll and an additional 21 pupils in our Nursery. We are very proud of our school and the hard work and positive attitude of all our pupils and staff. Teaching areas are both safe and well maintained, providing a stimulating working environment for pupils. We are continually striving to improve our facilities in order to enrich the experiences of our pupils.

The teachers and support staff form a very strong team and work closely with the Governing Body and Leigh Academies Trust to promote high standards throughout Oaks Primary Academy. Parents provide invaluable voluntary support throughout the academy and there is a well-established PTA, which provides a programme of fundraising activities throughout the year.

The academy teaches a broad and balanced curriculum which is enriched by a wide range of extra-curricular activities. It is our aim to provide a happy, safe, and caring community, where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals.

Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Diversity at our core: As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

All roles within the Trust are subject to an Enhanced DBS check in addition to other pre-employment check
