Pitman Training has arrived in Maidstone!

Pitman Training is the leading supplier of Microsoft Office, AAT bookkeeping and secretarial training in the UK, with over 175 years of experience. Our portfolio also spans IT, graphic design, web design, legal, medical, social media and more.

We are excited to be back to Maidstone, working in close partnership with our Canterbury centre. We are looking for a Course Advisor to work in both centres, who will inspire our prospects into making the right choices to achieve their career aspirations.

ABOUT THE JOB:

This is a fantastic sales opportunity for someone who genuinely shares our passion for training and self-improvement. You’ll need to have an interest in people and strong rapport-building skills. You’ll be talking on the phone and face to face with a variety of people plus sending lots of emails so great people and writing skills are a must.

Maidstone is a new centre for us, so this is an amazing opportunity for someone with energy, creativity and enthusiasm to make the job their own and grow with us.

Main Responsibilities:

• Telephoning prospects who have enquired through our website and following up in email.
• Advising potential students in face to face meetings and over the phone.
• Offering careers and employability advice.
• Following up over the phone and email to close sales.
• Minimal amount of (strategically) ‘cold-calling’ companies in order to win corporate training business – there will be the requirement for occasional Kent-based travel in order to visit corporate prospects.
• Meeting set targets.

Core skills:

• You must have a strong desire to help people – although this is a sales role, our advice must always be ethical, realistic and fair.
• Ideally, you’ll have experience within the training or recruitment sector – if not, you must have some relevant experience to draw on in order to advise people on their future careers – perhaps you’ve interviewed for various roles previously.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience of selling would be advantageous but we’re happy to talk to you if you are lacking experience but just need the break to prove yourself.
• An understanding of counselling, mentoring or NLP would be advantageous.
• The confidence to speak professionally and ‘hold your own’ with corporate customers.
• Attention to detail is a must as is the ability to ‘muck in’ within a very small team.
• Your customer service skills must be top-notch; we are a premium brand and our students and clients highly expect to get an exceptional service – even if that means you have to go the extra mile, sometimes out of hours.
• Microsoft Office skills would be helpful, but as you’d expect, world-class training will be given!

Hours:
Part-time or full-time but will include one late a week (until 7pm) and one Saturday morning a month in Maidstone. We are happy to negotiate hours to suit the right candidate. Time will be spent in both Canterbury and Maidstone.

Salary:
Negotiable depending on hours and experience. OTE of around £25k in the first year with an un-capped commission structure; we will be pushing you to earn significantly more than this!

To apply:
Please email your C.V. with covering message explaining why this role appeals to you. We’ll leave it to you to decide how to ‘pitch’ your ‘pitch’, so feel free to ensure you stand out. C.V.’s sent without a covering message will not be considered. If you'd like to discuss the opportunity before you apply, please call Sally on 01622 291 291. No agencies please.
