As part of the house keeping team, you will have responsibility for the cleanliness and hygiene of the school. The role involves the cleaning of all internal and external areas of the school buildings and boarding houses as directed by the Senior House Keeper.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff share this commitment. This includes attendance at regular safeguarding and child protection training.


Responsibilities

• To undertake the cleaning of the school buildings in accordance with the weekly cleaning schedule or as directed by the Senior Housekeeper;

• To ensure that all classrooms, corridors, washrooms and boarding houses are cleaned regularly, and a high standard of hygiene is maintained at all times;

• To ensure areas to be used are clean and tidy prior to the start of their use;

• To ensure all cleaning materials are used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions;

• To maintain and keep tidy in your designated areas a stock of cleaning materials and consumable products (toilet tissue, soap, hand towels, bin bags etc.);

• To report any defective equipment or maintenance issues promptly to the Senior House Keeper;

• To ensure that safe working practices are adopted at all times;

• To work in accordance with Bethany School’s Health & Safety Policy at all times;

• Any other reasonable duties as required.

The successful candidate is likely to possess the following:

• Good Team player;

• Previous experience in a similar role;

• Willingness to be flexible;

• Own transport or access to transport due to the location of the School which is not close to public transport;

• A willingness to play an active part in the life of this busy and vibrant school.
