Salary: circa £40k pa DOE

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve and Howletts Wild Animal Park, in conjunction with the Aspinall Foundation, are a charity based conservation organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. The parks are home to one of the world’s most prized wild animal collections and are one of the biggest visitor attractions in Kent.

We are currently recruiting for a Catering Manager to lead and be accountable for the F&B operations across all aspects of retail food and beverage within Howletts & Port Lympne Estates Ltd.’s 2 current locations; Howletts and Port Lympne parks. Ensuring that that the Retail arm of the Catering Operations runs efficiently & effectively and delivers exceptional customer service.

Key Duties of the Role include:

Maximizing profit. Recruit, train and develop a talented and highly motivated team for all catering units serving day visitors and overnight accommodation guests at both parks. Provide the highest level of customer service to exceed our customer’s expectations. Takes responsibility for and delivers against the business financial KPI’s. Stays ahead of the food and drink trends. Manage revenue performance against budgets and generate ideas on how to overachieve versus Budget and PY.Manage. Deliver and report on all KPIs, monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met. Internal promoting of drink and food offers. Produce staff rotas to meet the business needs but within budgetary restraints. Conduct full staff management and appraisal i.e. investigations, interviews, annual appraisals.

The Person:

• Previous experience in a Management / Senior Supervisory in a restaurant, food retail or catering environment.
• Experience and competence in the use of Microsoft Word, office, Excel and Microsoft Outlook and internet use.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Excellent organisational and management skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Meticulous approach to work with an understanding of the importance of attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• A proven track record of the ability to form and maintain good working relationships.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• A team player prepared to help others and take on extra work to meet the business needs.
• Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
• Ability to meet all issues deadlines.
• Clear understanding of SOP development/implementation.
• Commercial awareness.
• Experience using Quadranet, Epos systems, Opera PMS
• Problem-solving skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Working Hours:

Full time salaried position working 45 hrs per week, working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays. (Hours, dates and rosters may change as this is a seasonal business).
