Do you have the ability to time-manage effectively to meet multiple project deadlines? Are you pro-active and self-motivated with the ability to problem solve?

If you have the experience with, or willingness and technical aptitude to become familiar with software and applications that will be used for project reporting at Kent and the European Research Council portal, this opportunity to join our Department of English Language and Linguistics as Project Co-ordinator could be what you are looking for.

This part-time (10.5 hours per week), fixed term (for 60 months) position for a Project Co-ordinator is attached to a European Research Council (ERC) funded Advanced Grant, titled SPRINT: "Speech Prosody in Interaction: The form and function of intonation in human communication” (ERC-ADG-835263) to Professor Amalia Arvaniti (Principal Investigator).

As Project Co-ordinator you will:

provide administrative support to enable the SPRINT team to complete research-related travel
manage project finances in liaison with Research Services and the School Finance Officer
co-ordinate and promote project events
manage the project’s online presence and social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook)

To succeed in this role you will have:

an education to degree level in a discipline relevant to the role, or equivalent
a proficiency with Microsoft Office, and notably Excel
the ability to work independently, under the PI’s direction, and as part of a team
a familiarity with social media platforms and willingness to handle the external-facing needs of the project

The role is fixed term until 30/09/2024 and part time, 10.5 hours per week.

The School of European Culture and Languages (SECL) is a one of the largest at the University of Kent, comprising six departments, Classical and Archaeological Studies, Comparative Literature, English Language and Linguistics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, and Religious Studies. It plays a major role in the University’s mission to be the ‘UK’s European university’ and prides itself on a strong sense of academic community.

Founded in 2010, English Language and Linguistics (ELL) is now an established and highly successful department in SECL, noted for the buoyant recruitment to its undergraduate and MA programmes and its internationally known research.

With the aim of embedding equal opportunities for women within its working practices, the School of European Culture and Languages has recently secured an Athena SWAN Bronze award
