Responsible to ESOL Manager/Head of SEN
Scale NJC 14-17 - 30 hours per week, term time only (pro rata)
Responsible for
• Provide learning support to the ESOL provision and the SEN Department
• To cover Front Office Reception during breaks and/or busy times
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide learning support to the ESOL provision and the SEN Department.
• Provide appropriate levels of individual attention, reassurance and help for ESOL and SEN students
• Work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff and EAL Tutor to provide intervention and support for students with additional educational needs in a variety of learning environments.
• Monitoring students as required.
• Communicate effectively with parents/carers if required.
• Bring to the attention of members of staff any problems, concerns, achievements and other factors relevant to the learning of any SEN and ESOL students.
• Ensure accurate records and observations are kept so that students receive the maximum benefit from their education.
• Provide appropriate levels of individual attention, reassurance and help for student(s) needs as identified in Individual Education Plans
• Support the specific needs of specified students – physical, emotional and/or behavioural
• Support student(s) access to the curriculum, their learning in particular lessons and their progress towards specific individual targets
• Liaise with external agencies if required.
• Support with production of resources
• Supervise ESOL students for two break sessions, encourage social interaction and ensure student safety – this may be outside, in the canteen or in the ESOL area.
• Carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with College policies and procedures and statutory requirements.
• Support the Front Office to cover breaks and when required.
• Carry out any other duties as directed by the Headteacher commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

Areas of Accountability and Discretion • All decisions made within the parameters of the job description
Performance Management •The standards of the post holder will be measured through Kemnal Technology College’s appraisal system by setting targets linked to this job description. The job description will be reviewed annually at the appraisal meeting.
Discipline, Health and Safety • Work in accordance with the guidelines set out in The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) Health and Safety Policy.
General Responsibilities • Promote and uphold the College values of being Ambitious, Resilient and Considerate.
